LOTY Judging @ The Brunswick Inn, Derby

I am delighted to advise everyone, who did not attend this meeting, that they missed a great afternoon. A good crowd made the trip compared with last year and in total some 18 people took part in the judging, swopping & sale of labels. Even some of our accompanying wives enjoyed some socializing between shopping excursions. What was there not to enjoy, an excellent buffet provided by Greg & his staff, together with 5 or 6 real ales from the Brampton Brewery, the same number from the on site Brunswick Brewery and several guest ales as well. There were even half a dozen draught ciders available, if you were a zider drinker.

Our judges Peter D. Mick J. & John S. did a great job, studying & deliberating over the labels of over 160 breweries from the UK & Ireland. Their consensus was that in general, the overall quality of labels was much higher than last year and consequently they found the judging to be more difficult than in previous years. So the decisions have been made and in the coming week or so the winners will be notified. So that they may join us at Charles Wells, Eagle Brewery in Bedford to receive their award certificates. Full results together with the total raised for this years charities, will be published after the LOTY event on 19th October.
