Quite a Week for the Labologists Society

Well what a week! Last Saturday we raised £2,800 for our LOTY charities. £1,400 each to Keech Hospices, Luton and to Macmillan Cancer Support.

And Lo & Behold, today we passed the 25,000 visitor milestone for this website. That is in around four & a half months, since launch.

So what next, well more content as & when time allows. Please keep sending your label images. Hopefully some pictures of last weekends LOTY event over the next couple of days.

Thanks to everyone involved in & supporting Label Of The Year once again.

Cheers Pete

Beer labels added: Openshaw Brewery Company

Another 4 images added to the above page under ‘Featured Breweries’ tab. Nothing that old or rare, just different to what is already there.

Could you add something more? If so, as usual contact our webmaster via the ‘Getting in Touch’ page. Thanks in advance (or is that in hope)

Island Green Brewery Co, Wrexham

Two images of labels from the above brewery have been added to the ‘Gallery’ on the page Brewers G-I. Very nice rare examples, why not share some of your favourite labels with your fellow Labologists and all those other interested visitors to our site.

John Fox – India Pale Ale

An image of the above labels has been added to the John Fox page within ‘Featured Breweries’. Now displaying 6 different labels, are you willing & able to add to this total? If so please contact our webmaster via the ‘Getting in Touch’ page.

LOTY Raises £2,800 for UK Charities

We are delighted to announce that on Saturday at Wells & Youngs in Bedford, we handed cheques for £1,400 to both Macmillan Cancer Support & Keech Hospice Care, based in Luton. Our most sincere thanks go to Wells & Youngs for their excellent support of LOTY 2013 & a special thank you to Liz Faulkner for her time on Saturday and her patience with us over the last few months. Of course none of this would be possible without the support of our members, who once again have dug very deep to raise this amazing sum for the charities. Finally thanks to Adrian PH, Des C, Keith O, Bernie W & Peter L for their help throughout the year.

We hope to upload some pictures of the event in the coming days, so look out for a new page on the ‘Label Of The Year’ tab

Another small milestone for our website

Yes this morning we passed the 22,000 visitor mark. Which means we are attracting around 5,500 visits per month. Not bad for our small society, there is obviously a fair degree of interest out there. We look forward to the next target of 25K.

Thanks to all of you for your continuing interest & please feel free to comment, in reply to our posts.

Well just 5 days to go now. If you are one of the misguided, who have yet to book place. There is still just about time. Why would you want to miss this.

Beer, buffet, brewery tour, loads of labels to buy, labels for auction, the infamous raffle & of course Peter D’s mind bending quiz. Why do we do this every year, to raise money for worthy UK charities, that’s why. So if you are now convinced of the error of your way, in not booking. Just contact our Treasurer, Webmaster or even me via our ‘Getting in Touch’ page.

For the enlightened amongst you, we look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Cheers Pete S

The Label Of The Year Quiz –

Just under a week now, until the LOTY presentation & charity day at Charles Wells. As I know you all really look forward to my annual brainteasers. I have just finished setting the quiz questions and this year’s will be a cracker. You just need to know your labels. See you there. Cheers Peter D

Arthur Guinness

The above brewery has been added to ‘Featured  Breweries’. This is by no means a comprehensive catalogue of their labels, just a taster to wet the whistle. If you have rare or unusual Guinness labels that you would like to share, then please contact our webmaster via our ‘Getting in Touch’ page.

Well thanks to our ‘elpful electronic elf and some very efficient techies at HostPapa, our menus are back to normal. If any one is interested, it was all to do with PHP settings, a security patch called Suhosin, which is running on our ISP’s server and WordPress sulking. You don’t know what I’m talking about, well that makes several more of us. Anyway we will see if we can add something more to the site over the weekend, to make sure we can’t break it again.

Thanks to all of you, who were involved in sorting the problem!
