Hi, I would like to ask your members if anyone knows where the Marca
mono Guinness comes from. I will paste a link to further infomation

The second one is from Australia & asks about early labels from Oz & again Guinness crops up.
Hi, Just an off chance query to exhaust all possibilities. I’m currently writing the history of brewing in Victoria, Australia in great depth. I’m wondering if anyone in you club may be able to help with images of pre 1900 Australian labels. I also need an actual size image of the red clover shaped Edmonds ‘pig brand’ label from 1870-1900 period.
Is anyone able to help? More that happy to pay for images and acknowledge if required. Cheers and happy collecting Andrew

The “Marca Mono” on the bottle opener basically means ” The One & Only”, an old Guinness promotional phrase. This would would have probably have been a bottle opener for the Italian/Mediterranean market.

If we want to pedantic, the literal translation is “Mono Brand”. That further translates in “marketing-speak” into “The One Brand” which further translates into the phrase that used to be used along side “My Goodness, My Guinness” and “Guinness is Good for You”, “The One & Only – Guinness!”

It just goes to show how easy it is when you have the knowledge. Now it makes perfect sense.

Thanks to your members for their feedback, its appreciated. A lot of these openers seem to occur in Australasia. It would be good to know where the intended market was, (was it a Spanish speaking country?). Are there any bottle labels with ‘Marca Mono’ on them and if so, where were the bottles sent? Thanks for your help.
